  • Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2020 - Highly Commended

After 10 years of sending images to the competition "Wildlife Photographer of the Year", one of my images was awarded! Wildlife photographer of the year is the longest-running and most prestigious nature photography competition in the world. It is simply the Oscars of world wildlife photography. As the only awarded Norwegian, I am off course extremely proud to be in the 56th edition of this competition where 49 000 images were competing. My image "Blending in", was Highly Commended in the category "Animals in their Environment". It shows 2 Svalbard rock ptarmigans resting in the harsh and jagged landscape close to Longyearbyen, Svalbard. The svalbard rock ptarmigan is an extreme bird. It is the only land living bird species that spends the entire year on Svalbard! Imagine how this birds can survive those months of total darkness and extreme cold! Congratulations to all the awarded images in WPY 56! Please have a look at all the images here: https://www.nhm.ac.uk/wpy/gallery #WPY56
